The proposals are in and voting is closed!
Kathryn picked 6 suitors herself, and the 7th was chosen by public vote on the Save The Date Facebook event page.
Voting took place from August 2nd to August 3rd at 5pm. To assist in Kathryn’s (and the public’s) decision-making, suitors completed a short questionnaire and submitted a photograph of themselves.

Question #2 - What is your hometown? In 1990 we came home from Germany after the fall of the soviet union. I was 7. I met America then. My hometown was not home, but a strange Bavarian place where I didn’t speak the language. It was called Augsburg. After that I was between Baltimore and dc. Divorce and all.
Question #3 - What is your occupation? Artist, performer of stories and comedy, working on a food truck, and sometimes I produce/direct shows. Non professionally I am occupied by an affinity for booze and staying up later than anyone ever.
Question #4 - What is your favorite sport activity? I was captain of the wrestling team in high school. I won more than I lost. Since then I don’t play sports, but I’m unusually strong.
Question #5 - What is your favorite ice cream flavor? Moose Tracks and prolly because the name makes me think of bullwinkle.
Question #6 - What is your favorite movie of all time? Amadeus is the most universally appealing movie ever.
Question #7 - What is your favorite book (or author) of all time? Lorrie Moore- Birds of America— the modern master of short stories. I probably couldn’t have ever done without Carl Phillips’ Quiver of Arrows.
Question #8 - What is your favorite band of all time? Mazzy Star or The Jesus and Mary Chain…But Tori Amos is important and also Leonard Cohen and also the Nina Simone version of here comes the sun saved my life when I was 19.
Question #9 - Who is your favorite artist of all time? Laurie Anderson had a stronger impact on me than most. Then again so did Ace Ventura.
Question #10 - If you could be anywhere doing anything right now besides this, where and what would it be? Paris, eating jambon beurre. I never been to Paris but if I was there I’d get jambon beurre.

Question #3 - What is your occupation? I write about economics, local artists, juvenile justice reform, killer bedbugs, fallen angels, dysfunctional reality television families, man-on-statue sex, and other things. I also make films from time to time. Speaking of which, YOU can be in a film, racing against the world’s largest functioning roller skate ever built in THE GREAT SKATE RACE. Filming August 19 in DC. Question #4 - What is your favorite sport activity? Cage fighting and croquet. Preferably combined as a single sport.
Question #5 - What is your favorite ice cream flavor? Daiquiri ice. That’s not clever. That’s just my favorite ice cream flavor.
Question #6 - What is your favorite movie of all time? My favorite film viewing experience was watching Vertigo on TV when I was 18. I only sat down to watch a few minutes of that stupid movie my mom had made me watch when I was 12. But instead I was completely transfixed for the next two hours: I had to take a giant gulp of air when it was over as if I had forgotten to breathe the whole time. Kim Novak stepping out into the green neon light in that film is the most arresting image of morbid, lustful, romantic obsession I’ve ever seen.
Question #7 - What is your favorite book (or author) of all time? Reading The Sun Also Rises inspired me enough to begin taking writing seriously, though I’m embarrassed to admit that now. I once spent four months plodding through Ulysses, and ended up loving it in spite of - or because of - all the effort. Few books are as insightful, visual, inspiring or heartbreaking as Van Gogh’s letters. And perhaps none are as delightfully disturbing as Venus In Furs.
Question #8 - What is your favorite band of all time? My favorite musician of all time would have to be Charles Mingus, with J.S. Bach a close second. As far as “bands” go, I can’t get enough of Eagles of Death Metal. Other musicians only nerds like me care about: Jason Moran, Frederic Rzewski, The Bad Plus, Meredith Monk. And while she may not be my all-time favorite, anyone who rips on Britney in my vicinity gets socked in the face. Seriously, people, leave Britney alone!
Question #9 - Who is your favorite artist of all time? Not necessarily my favorite, but if I had a time machine, after killing baby Hitler (as required by the rules of hypothetical time travel), I would go back to see the moment when Hieronymous Bosch explained to the church elders how The Garden of Earthly Delights was a pious painting. I’d be particularly interested in what heavenly lessons he thought could be gleaned from seeing a man defiling an oversized strawberry.
Question #10 - If you could be anywhere doing anything right now besides this, where and what would it be? My passion is and always will be to tell lies, and as long as I can do that with care and commitment I am happy anywhere. But if I must tell the truth, I would probably most like to be carousing with good friends right now. Place? I don’t know. Paris is nice because it’s easy to stop and pee on your way home.

Question #10 - If you could be anywhere doing anything right now besides this, where and what would it be? I would be walking around the Swedish countryside and would wander upon a small family farm. Seeing me approach on this hot day, the family would invite me inside for a glass of water and some fresh bread. We would talk about their farm and my travels for some time and then I would wish them well and continue on my journey as the sun softly faded over the horizon.
